When harvested yellow peas are spherical, with an outer skin.  Yellow split peas are created by the dried pea and the dull-coloured outer skin of the pea being removed, then split in half by machine.

Yellow split  peas are high in plant protein and fibre, and low in fat.  Infact the yellow split pea is known to be a natural food source that contains some of the highest amounts of dietary fibre.


There is no need to soak split peas before cooking, and they turn very creamy when cooked through.
